How these rankings work
Each list ranks models on a single, published benchmark rather than a vague overall score, so you can see exactly what is being measured. Coding is ranked by SWE-Bench Verified (how often a model resolves real GitHub issues); reasoning by GPQA Diamond (graduate-level science questions); and we keep separate lists for the fastest and cheapest models, plus vision and per-provider line-ups. Benchmarks are a starting point, not gospel — they are publisher-reported where not independently verified, and the best model is ultimately the one that does best on your task.
Why pick a model per task
No single model wins everywhere. A flagship like Claude Opus or GPT-5.5 is worth its higher price for hard reasoning and complex code, but it is overkill — and slower and pricier — for quick everyday questions, where a lightweight model such as GPT-5 nano or Gemini Flash answers just as well for a fraction of a cent. Matching the model to the job is the single biggest lever on both quality and cost.
Use any of them on anyAInow
Every model in these rankings is available from one anyAInow balance — no separate subscriptions to stack. Switch models mid-conversation, or open compare mode to run the same prompt through two or three at once and pick the best answer. You pay only for what you use, from $5, and your tokens never expire.
